9pm to 11pm

Derwentwater Milky Way Photography Workshop

Timed for Optimal Milky Way Position

Photograph the Milky Way at a Stunning Location

Join us for a Milky Way shoot on the northern shores (Keswick end) of Derwentwater.

This will be the third Milky Way workshop at Derwentwater, but I've done even more shoots there myself. It's one of my favourite locations, with an abundance of vantage points and photogenic backdrops.

Keswick is a very reasonable drive from the North East and North West. If you want to make a day of it, we've got two other workshops in the Lakes on September 6th.

I'll show you how to get the best results from whatever equipment you have. You don't necessarily need a special camera or lens, but it helps to be able to set all the controls and focus manually. You'll definitely need a tripod though.

We welcome all ability levels, from absolute beginners, to people who've dabbled with astrophotography, to more experienced photographers.

The photographs from these workshops are always special. People are blown away by how easy it is to get stunning results.

Your images from the our night photography workshops will be different to what anyone else is doing, and will attract attention for all the right reasons.

Booking Conditions & Information

  • All bookings are final. However, you may be able to send someone else in your place, if need be.

  • At the moment, I'm sorry to say, we're unable to control the weather! Workshops will go ahead in most conditions, as long we decide it's safe to do so. Please bear in mind that forecasts are frequently wrong - and also that different weather conditions can produce interesting results, if you're willing to embrace them.

  • We need to start on time, and keep track of all participants, so please arrive at the meeting point a few minutes before the official start time. Please let the instructor know if you need to leave early.

  • Spectator places are available at a reduced price. Please note, all spectators must accompany a paying photographer, and stand back from the cameras (for safety, and to ensure everyone gets a clear shot).

  • We'll email you joining instructions, including directions to the meeting point, at least 2 days before the workshop.
